Our apples
McIntosh
is the best selling apple in the northeastern United States. It has white, tender, crisp flesh that's spice is highly aromatic and full of juice. Its characteristic flavor is best used in sauces, but loses its shape when sliced. It is the principal cider apple in the Northeast. The apple has cross bread with other apple varieties such as Cortland, Empire, and Macoun.
Honeycrisp
is a cross between the Macoun and the Honeygold. The Honeycrisp is quickly becoming the most popular apple in the world! The taste is sweet, but tart and the apples flesh is that of the crispest among other eating apples. Honeycrisp apples can store three to four months in the refrigerator. Not only does the Honeycrisp look good, but they are also kid approved!
Cortland
is almost identical to the McIntosh, except that the Cortland ripens a little later, is a bit larger and has a brighter color. With a perfumed scent, slightly acid, it has a very good flavor. It is good for pies because it doesn't brown when it is sliced.
Red Delicious
is the most widely grown apple in the world and a favorite snacking apple. The fruit is bright red and sometimes striped with darker red streaks, it has five "points" on the bottom. It's crunchy with a mildly sweet flavor and yellow flesh. It should feel solid and heavy, not soft and light. They are great for eating fresh and excellent in salads, but not a great baking apple.
Ida Red
is a large bright red flushed apple that is firm and keeps well. Its flesh is white, crisp and mildly acid making its flavor tangy and tart. It is best suited for cooking being best used in sauces and pies.
Empire
is a cross between the McIntosh and the Red Delicious, but with more of the McIntosh in it. It keeps better refrigeration than the Mac. Its a popular "eat right off the tree" apples because of its juicy, firm, crunchy and sweet texture. People favor its creamy, white flesh. It can also be used for adding spice to cider blends and in apple pies.
Jonamac
is a cross between a Jonathan and a McIntosh. It is a medium size fruit with firm, crisp flesh firm, with flavor similar to McIntosh. The eating quality combines the rich flavor of McIntosh with some of the spiciness of a Jonathan. Excellent for cooking, sauce or eating out of hand. When baking, the slices tend to be melting and juicy.
